Hmmm Alex, let me think...Oh...I think I've got it!
What are three famous Minnesotan Disasters?
Ding! Ding! Ding! You are correct!
Yes, little did I know that the hoop greenhouse that I just wrote about in the last journal entry was in "Jeopordy" of collapsing.
Knowing it was going to snow, I had reinforced the joints with 2 x 4's but little did I know it was going to snow 20 inches with drifts up to 3 feet! By the time I got to the house, it was too late. The 2 x 4's held, but the PVC pipe snapped at the joints.
I guess the good news is that I hadn't invested thousands of dollars in the thing, but when I think of all the time and effort that went into the project I am not a happy camper. I was really looking forward to getting plants started early next year. Now all I have is a big mess to clean up. Bah Humbug!
The hoop-frame was built to withstand moderate snows, but it didn't have a chance with that much snow falling all at once. Of course this is all part of the learning process in life and the next green house I build will be radically different. I'm already kicking around a few ideas in my head. In the mean time I've got plenty of other things to keep my occupied over the winter months.
