Howdy,
Here are some photos of our cordwood workshop in Hendersonville, NC in October 2009. The project was the infilling of a post and beam framed greenhouse. The foundation is railroad timbers placed below frost line and pinned together. The slope of the site helped to determine the foundation.

Our power point and Q & A sessions were at the Backhome Magazine Offices.   These were right across the road from the home of Carl Sandburg. Quite an historic area in the gorgeously beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. As a side trip we went home via way of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Incredible. If you are in that area, see both, but if you have to choose do the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The first two pictures are from the home tours that went on Friday afternoon before the workshop.   These are from Toby & Maria's beautiful cordwood home in Leicester, NC. http://tobiascrawley.net/house/

As always, this workshop was chock full of interesting, intelligent and forthright folks from all over the country. It is the best part of the workshop when we learn of each person's plans, dreams and their unique personal journey.

If anyone wishes to be placed on future cordwood workshop updates, please email us with that message flato@aol.com Right now we are tentatively looking at doing workshops in 2010 in Arkansas, Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo of Richard Freudenberger, the editor of Backhome Magazine, doing his best Swap Cummings impersonation.

The scenery in the mountains of North Carolina is breathtaking.

Happy Trails,
